UK & Middle East Tour 2005
Shakespeare’s wit has never been sharper than when exploring the battle of the sexes in The Taming Of The Shrew.
Baptista has a problem! He needs to marry off his beautiful daughter Bianca to the richest of her many suitors but cannot until her elder and fiery sister Katherine is married first…but who in their right mind would marry Katherine?
Enter Petruchio, a gold digging nobleman who intends to wed at any cost: “I come to wife it wealthily in Padua; if wealthily, than happily in Padua” !
Petruchio sets about taming the headstrong Katherine…but in the end who will tame who?
In UKTT’s rollicking production, a troupe of travelling players, act out this story of wooing, love and marriage, with hilarious results. A variety of prestigious venues hosted this production in the UK and in the Middle East open air performances added to the enjoyment of this much talked about show.
With the wonderful venues and beautiful period costumes, this bawdy comedy was a glorious romp of an evening and a sell out event enjoyed by all ages.
